Wormhole — Your other Mac's windows, right here
For people with more than one Mac
Your other Mac's windows,
right here.
Open a window from your Mac mini or Studio on the Mac in front of you, as a window of its own, captured at full Retina resolution. For people who own more than one Mac.
macOS 14+ · We'll email you when sales open. No spam, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
Xcode runs on the mini. Its window shows up on the laptop as a window of its own, at full Retina resolution.
No account.
No relay.
No meter.
Your Macs talk to each other directly. No server of ours ever sees a frame or a keystroke. And you pay once, with no clock running.
A window, not a
picture of a desktop.
Screen Sharing shows you the whole remote desktop, scaled. This hands you the one window you need.
A window, not a desktop.
A window from your other Mac opens here as a window of its own, titled with the app and the Mac it runs on. No scaled picture of the whole remote screen.
Sharp on Retina.
Captured at your other Mac's full Retina resolution and shown pixel for pixel, so 12-point text stays crisp.
Secrets are never offered.
Password managers, hidden windows and untitled windows are filtered out on the Mac that shares, before the list ever leaves it.
Mac to Mac, nothing in between.
Your Macs find each other on your network and connect directly. No account, and no server of ours ever sees a frame.
Click and type into it.
Mouse, scrolling, the keyboard and ⌘ shortcuts go to the real window, and resizing your copy resizes it. ⌘Q stays on your Mac.
Its own Dock icon and ⌘Tab.
Each remote window is its own app here, with the real app's icon badged in its Mac's colour, so you switch to it like any other.
Paired once, encrypted always.
The same six digits on both screens, once, and every frame end-to-end encrypted from then on. A Mac you have not paired cannot list or open anything.
Always know where it lives.
Every remote window wears its Mac's colour as a ring, with the Mac's name in the title, so you never type into the wrong machine.
Copy here, paste there.
Text, images and files copied on one Mac paste on the other: your clipboard follows you into a remote window, and what you copy in one comes back. A password manager's copy never leaves the Mac it was made on.
Across networks, by address.
Not on the same network? Add the other Mac by its IP address or hostname, over Tailscale or any route you have, and it pairs and opens windows just the same.
Back on its own after a drop.
After sleep or a Wi-Fi blip, a remote window reconnects by itself and says so in the window, dimming the last picture instead of freezing on it.
Being built
Not in the app yet. Each one moves up to the list above the day it ships, and not before.
The headless Mac miniPlanned
The mini in the closet with no display attached is the main case this is built for. It has not been tested yet; this line changes when it has.

Questions
All questions →What do I need?
Two Macs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on the same network or reachable by address (over Tailscale, for example), with Wormhole on both. The same app shares windows, shows them, or both.
Does it work over Tailscale, or between networks?
Yes. In the pairing window, type the other Mac's IP address or hostname under Add by address, then pair as usual. The Mac that shares lists its addresses, Tailscale's included, in its menu bar panel. The Mac that shares listens on TCP port 47473, so a firewall between the two must allow it. Your frames stay end-to-end encrypted between your two Macs whichever network carries them.
How is it different from Screen Sharing?
Screen Sharing shows the whole remote desktop as one scaled picture inside a window. This opens the one window you want as a window of its own, at your display's full resolution.
Can I click and type in a remote window?
Yes. Clicks, scrolling, typing and ⌘ shortcuts go to the real window on the other Mac, and resizing your copy resizes it. The Mac that shares needs Accessibility turned on for this. Both Macs should use the same keyboard layout for now. Everything that does not work yet, or works differently on purpose, is on the known-issues page.
Bring the window to you.
