To see the other Mac's whole screen, use Screen Sharing, which comes with macOS, or a remote desktop app such as Jump Desktop. To bring over just one window as a window of its own, use an app built for that: Beam or Wormhole.
You have a Mac mini or a Studio somewhere, and you are sitting at another Mac. There are two different things you might want from it: its whole screen, or one of its windows. Every fact about another product below comes from its own page, checked on 2 November 2026.
The options side by side
| Shows | Needs | How it is sold | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen Sharing | The other Mac's screen | Screen Sharing turned on on the other Mac | Comes with macOS |
| Jump Desktop | Remote desktop sessions over RDP, VNC or its own Fluid protocol | macOS 11 or later | A paid app on the Mac App Store |
| Beam | One window, or a whole display | macOS Sonoma or later on both Macs, and an account | Free for 20 minutes a day; a subscription, or a lifetime license |
| Wormhole | One window, or a whole display | macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on both Macs; no account | Once, for the Macs you sit at (pricing) |
The whole screen: Screen Sharing and remote desktop apps
Screen Sharing is in Applications › Utilities on every Mac. Turn it on on the Mac you want to reach, then connect from the sidebar, or by hostname or Apple Account. Its High Performance mode can give you one or two virtual displays.
Jump Desktop is a remote desktop app that speaks RDP and VNC as well as its own Fluid protocol, so the same app reaches Macs and PCs. Its App Store listing describes full remote desktop sessions, including several monitors; it does not describe opening one app's window on its own.
One window: Beam and Wormhole
Both open a window from the other Mac here as a window of its own, with its own Dock icon, and both keep password managers out of the list of windows you can pick. They differ in accounts, in how they are sold, and in Beam's browser share links; the side-by-side comparison has the details.
If Screen Sharing is what you use today, here is how it differs from Wormhole.
